Dear Friends of Harvest Haven,

Happy New Year, as we step into 2026, we do so with grateful hearts and renewed hope. Looking back on the past year, we see countless moments of love, service, and joy—made possible because of your faithful support and partnership. Together, we have planted seeds of compassion and harvested the fruit of community. As a new year begins, we are excited to continue serving with warmth, purpose, and action, becoming a blessing to one another and to our community.

This past December, we were blessed to celebrate two unforgettable Christmas gatherings with our senior community—each filled with laughter, music, and heartfelt connection.

Cantonese Seniors Christmas Celebration:
The room was filled with Christmas carols and the warmth of the Christmas story. The highlight of the day was a joyful White Elephant Gift Exchange, where everyone left with laughter, surprises, and smiles. Our heartfelt thanks go to Gloria and the volunteer team for their thoughtful planning and loving service.

Mandarin Seniors Christmas Celebration :
Becky and her team
organized interactive games, delicious refreshments, and beautifully prepared Christmas gift bags. One senior shared, “This was the happiest day of my year,” reminding us why this ministry matters so deeply.

We are especially grateful to Prince of Peace (太子行) for generously donating 100 Christmas gift bags, filled with holiday treats. Your generosity brought tangible warmth and care to many seniors—truly one of the most meaningful gifts of the season.

This year, Harvest Haven welcomed a very special Santa Claus. Behind the red suit and joyful laughter was Dennis, a young ABC (American‑born Chinese) volunteer who has faithfully served Harvest Haven for many years. Dennis continues to learn Mandarin while generously giving his time to teach computer and smartphone classes, assist with health seminars, and support digital literacy programs.

By volunteering to play Santa, Dennis brought smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories to our seniors. His heart of service reflects the spirit of so many volunteers who quietly and faithfully give of their time, skills, and love. We extend our deepest gratitude to Dennis and every volunteer who served Harvest Haven throughout 2025. Because of you, Harvest Haven is vibrant, welcoming, and full of life.

We are pleased to invite our community to an upcoming educational program, “Behaviors & Alzheimer’s Disease: Understanding Challenging Behavior Changes,” taking place on January 29.

This one-hour session will be led by Kristy Huang-Arai, Senior Education and Outreach Manager and Program Instructor at Alzheimer’s Los Angeles. Kristy holds a Master’s degree in Gerontology from the University of Southern California and brings over ten years of experience in aging services and dementia education.

During the program, participants will learn the IDEA! Three-Step Approach, a practical and compassionate framework designed to help seniors, family members, and caregivers better understand behavior changes related to dementia and respond with greater confidence and empathy. The session will also include practical tips that can be applied in everyday caregiving situations.

We warmly encourage seniors, family members, and caregivers to join us for this informative and supportive session.

As we step into the new year, Harvest Haven is excited to introduce expanded services designed to meet real community needs—especially for seniors. Beginning in February 2026, our trained team will provide transportation and accompaniment to medical appointments, as well as grocery shopping and essential errands.

If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, please contact Gloria to register. We also warmly invite young adults who feel called to serve to join our training and volunteer team.

As we walk into 2026 together with thankful hearts and faithful steps, we are grateful for your partnership in turning love into action. Harvest Haven is a nonprofit community ministry sustained entirely by generous supporters like you—your giving makes possible our weekly gatherings, health programs, life-support services, and holiday celebrations. As we prepare to launch new programs in the coming year, we invite you to continue partnering with us through financial support. Thank you for every gift, every smile, and every act of service—because of you, Harvest Haven remains a place of warmth, hope, and belonging.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”. Isaiah 43:19:

With gratitude and joy,

The Harvest Haven Team
