Celebrating Freedom • Connecting Generations • Living with Hope
Dear Harvest Haven Family,
July marks a special milestone: America’s 250th birthday. From the Pilgrims’ 1620 journey of faith to the Declaration of Independence in 1776, this nation was founded on the belief that every life holds God-given dignity, with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For the immigrant families in our community, America has meant a new beginning built on our families’ sacrifices, God’s faithful guidance, and hope for the generations to come.
True freedom carries responsibility. It calls us not just to enjoy our own rights, but to love God, care for others, and notice those who are lonely, vulnerable, or in need. This is the mission Harvest Haven continues to embrace: a community home where seniors, families, young adults, and children find friendship, encouragement, and hope, built by people willing to walk alongside one another with practical love.
As we celebrate this 250th anniversary, let us give thanks for freedom, pray for peace over our families and communities, and love one another across cultures, in faith, and through the everyday love of Christ. Happy 250th Birthday, America!
Celebrating Mrs. Tsai’s 100th Birthday
Harvest Haven Is a Warm Home for Seniors
In July, the Harvest Haven family gathered to celebrate Mrs. Tsai’s 100th birthday, a joyful occasion filled with gratitude, laughter, flowers, and blessings, honoring God’s grace throughout her remarkable life. For nearly 20 years, Mrs. Tsai has faithfully attended our gatherings, and it was her own suggestion, many years ago, that led Harvest Haven to establish its Mandarin Seniors Fellowship, so that more Chinese seniors could leave home, build friendships, and grow together in faith and community.
That simple suggestion has grown into a lasting blessing. The Mandarin Seniors Fellowship is now more than a weekly program; it is a family where seniors find friendship, encouragement, and belonging, and where Harvest Haven is a warm, welcoming home rather than an unfamiliar organization. We are also blessed to have several other members approaching their 100th birthdays, and in a special coincidence, Mrs. Tsai, Mrs. Li, and Professor Zou Jian all share the same birthday, making this year’s celebration a day of shared thanksgiving.
Every senior’s life is a testimony to God’s grace, and every gathering reminds us that companionship and love are among the greatest gifts a community can offer. May God continue to bless Mrs. Tsai, and every senior in the Harvest Haven family, with health, joy, and peace, and may Harvest Haven remain a warm home of companionship, dignity, and hope through every season of life.
Mrs. Lin’s Story
“At Harvest Haven, I Feel as Though I Have Found a Home”
Recently, we heard another heartwarming story. Mrs. Lin has lived in Cerritos for eight years, and although Harvest Haven was located nearby, much of her daily life centered around her family and household responsibilities, and she did not know how many programs, caring staff members, volunteers, and friends were ready to welcome her.
When Mrs. Lin recently visited Harvest Haven for the first time, she saw people singing, talking, learning, exercising, sharing lunch, and caring for one another, and she was deeply moved, hardly able to believe she had lived in Cerritos so many years without discovering this warm and welcoming place. To her, Harvest Haven is more than an activity center; it is a place where she can sit comfortably, where people know her, care about her, and take the time to speak with her. As she put it, “Coming to Harvest Haven feels as though I have found a home.”
Her words reminded us that Harvest Haven’s purpose is not simply to organize activities, but to build a community filled with love, companionship, and belonging. For many seniors, what they need most is not complicated: a place to visit each week, friends to meet, someone who remembers their name, and someone who sincerely asks, “How have you been?” Mrs. Lin’s story is also a reminder that many in our community may still not know about Harvest Haven, so we encourage everyone to introduce Harvest Haven to friends, neighbors, and family, since one invitation, one conversation, or one act of kindness may help someone step out of isolation and rediscover hope.
Cerritos College Summer Interns
Helping Young People Grow Through Service
This summer, Harvest Haven welcomed a group of Cerritos College students for internships and community service, bringing energy, creativity, and a sincere willingness to learn and serve. In July, they led two AI workshops for our community, introducing basic concepts and practical, everyday applications in a clear and patient way, helping seniors understand how this widely discussed technology can be used safely.
Participants responded with enthusiasm, appreciating not just the new knowledge but the students’ preparation and patience, and many seniors were touched to see young people take the time to teach and support them. In turn, the students learned to communicate across generations, build empathy, and serve with responsibility and care. For Harvest Haven, this is what community service is truly about: seniors and young people learning from each other and growing together, one of the most valuable marks of a healthy community.
We are deeply grateful to the Cerritos College students for choosing to serve at Harvest Haven this summer, and we hope to keep offering opportunities for more young people to grow, discover their gifts, and find purpose through service. May God bless these outstanding young people and every senior and community member in our programs, as we continue to connect through love, grow through learning, and bless one another through service.
Building Christ-Centered Community for Young Adults
Harvest Haven is expanding its outreach to young adults through two upcoming gatherings this summer. On July 18, 2026, the Young Adults Fellowship will hold an outdoor gathering at Yorba Regional Park (7600 E. La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807), offering a relaxed, welcoming setting where young adults can meet new people, build friendships, and encourage one another through faith and fellowship, away from their busy schedules. Then, on August 15, Harvest Haven will host a large Christian singles gathering, building on the strong response and encouragement from past singles events, where participants have connected, shared their faith, and formed new friendships in a natural, low-pressure environment.
Harvest Haven believes young adults need more than occasional activities. They need healthy relationships, positive community, and a Christ-centered space to grow together and, for singles, to seek companionship with someone who shares their faith and values as they prepare for marriage and family life. We hope the July gathering becomes the start of lasting friendships and community involvement, and that August’s singles gathering continues to offer a sincere, prayerful, and mature path toward meaningful relationships, since healthy marriages and families remain a vital foundation for blessing future generations.
Young adults and single adults are warmly invited to both gatherings, and parents are encouraged to share these opportunities with eligible family members and friends. Please keep these events in your prayers, that Harvest Haven may continue to bless not only seniors and families, but also the younger generation as they build friendships, seek spiritual companionship, and grow toward marriage and family life.
Harvest Haven Charity Sale
Turning Unused Items into Blessings
We are grateful to the many friends who have faithfully supported Harvest Haven’s charity sales. Each sale is more than a fundraiser: it’s a chance for the community to bless one another, as items no longer used in one home become practical resources for another family, while proceeds help support Harvest Haven’s programs and ministries.
Harvest Haven plans to hold another charity sale near the end of August, and we invite anyone with gently used items in good condition, such as small furniture, household items, kitchenware, home decor, artwork, gifts, or new and gently used daily necessities, to consider donating them for the sale.
We warmly welcome your help in any way, whether by donating items, organizing donations, volunteering during the sale, or inviting friends and neighbors to attend. Together, we can turn unused household items into love and blessing for the community, while giving more people a chance to learn about Harvest Haven and become part of its work.
As we celebrate freedom, may we cherish God’s grace, support one another in our community, and continue walking together—shining as a light that encourages and blesses others.

親愛的喜禾家人：
七月標誌著一個特別的里程碑——美國建國250週年。從1620年清教徒懷著信心橫渡大西洋，到1776年簽署《獨立宣言》，這個國家的建立根基於一個信念：每個生命都擁有上帝所賦予的尊嚴，並享有生命、自由與追求幸福的不可剝奪的權利。對我們社區中許多移民家庭而言，美國不僅是居住之地，更代表著一個新的開始——承載著家族的犧牲、上帝信實的引導，以及對下一代的盼望。
真正的自由伴隨著責任。它呼召我們不僅僅享受自己的權利，更要愛神、關懷他人，並留意那些孤單、脆弱或有需要的人。這正是喜禾持續秉持的使命：成為一個讓長者、家庭、青年與孩童都能找到友誼、鼓勵與盼望的社區之家，由願意彼此扶持、以實際的愛心同行的人所建立。
值此250週年紀念之際，讓我們一同為自由獻上感恩，為家庭與社區祈求平安，並跨越文化彼此相愛，在信仰中、在基督的日常之愛中彼此連結。美國，250歲生日快樂！
慶祝蔡媽媽百歲壽辰
喜禾是長者溫暖的家
七月，喜禾大家庭齊聚一堂，慶祝蔡媽媽的百歲壽辰。這是一個充滿感恩、歡笑、鮮花與祝福的溫馨時刻，大家一同感謝上帝在她精彩人生中始終如一的恩典與信實。將近二十年來，蔡媽媽一直忠心參加喜禾的聚會，而喜禾國語長者週會的成立，正是源於她多年前的建議——希望能有更多華人長者走出家門，結交朋友，並在信仰與群體生活中一同成長。
這個簡單的建議，如今已成為長久的祝福。國語長者週會不再只是一個每週聚會，而是一個大家庭——長者們在這裡找到友誼、鼓勵與歸屬感，喜禾也成為一個溫暖迎接每個人的家，而非陌生的機構。我們也感恩喜禾還有幾位長者即將迎來百歲壽辰，而今年蔡蔡媽媽、李師母與鄒健教授恰巧同一天生日，讓今年的慶生會格外充滿共同感恩的意義。
每位長者的生命都是上帝恩典的見證，而每一次相聚都提醒我們，陪伴與愛是社區所能給予的最珍貴禮物之一。願上帝繼續賜福蔡媽媽，也賜福喜禾大家庭中的每一位長者，賜予健康、喜樂與平安；願喜禾在人生的每個階段，都持續成為充滿陪伴、尊嚴與盼望的溫暖之家。
林太太的故事
「來到喜禾，讓我覺得像是找到了一個家」
最近，我們聽到另一個感人的故事。林太太在喜瑞都居住已有八年，這些年來她的生活大多圍繞著家庭與家務，儘管喜禾社區服務中心就在附近，她卻不知道這裡竟有這麼多為長者、家庭與社區居民提供的活動，也不知道原來有這麼多充滿愛心的同工、義工和朋友，一直在此等候著歡迎她的到來。
林太太最近第一次造訪喜禾。當她走進來，看到大家一起唱歌、交談、學習、運動、共享午餐，彼此關懷，她深受感動，幾乎無法相信自己在喜瑞都住了這麼多年，竟從未發現這個溫暖友善的地方。對她而言，喜禾不只是一個活動中心，而是一個她可以安心坐下、被人認識、被人關心，並且有人願意花時間與她交談的地方。她說：「來到喜禾，讓我覺得像是找到了一個家。」
她的這句話深深觸動了我們的心，也再次提醒我們，喜禾的使命不僅僅是安排活動，而是要建立一個充滿愛、陪伴與歸屬感的社區。對許多長者來說，他們最需要的或許並不複雜——一個每週可以造訪的地方、可以結識的朋友、有人記得他們的名字，還有人真誠地問一句：「你最近好嗎？」林太太的故事也提醒我們，社區中仍有許多人可能還不認識喜禾。因此，我們鼓勵大家將喜禾介紹給朋友、鄰居與家人——也許一次邀請、一段對話，或一個小小的善意，就能幫助某人走出孤單，重新找回盼望。
喜瑞都學院暑期實習生
透過服務幫助年輕人成長
今年夏天，喜禾迎來了一群來自喜瑞都大學（Cerritos College）的實習生，參與實習與社區服務。他們帶來了活力、創意，以及真誠學習與服事的心。七月份，他們為社區主持了兩場人工智慧（AI）工作坊，以清楚、有耐心的方式介紹基礎概念與日常生活中的實際應用，幫助長者了解如何安全地使用這項備受關注的新科技。
參與者的反應十分踴躍，除了學到新知識之外，也很欣賞學生們的用心準備與耐心陪伴，許多長者更被年輕人願意花時間教導與支持他們的心意所感動。與此同時，這些學生也學會了如何跨世代溝通、培養同理心，並以負責任、關懷的態度服事他人。對喜禾而言，這正是社區服務的真諦：長者與年輕人彼此學習、一同成長，這也是健康社區最珍貴的特質之一。
我們由衷感謝喜瑞都學院的學生們，選擇在今年夏天於喜禾服事，也盼望未來能持續為更多年輕人提供機會，讓他們在服事中成長、發掘恩賜、尋見人生的意義。願上帝賜福這群優秀的年輕人，以及每一位參與喜禾各項活動的長者與社區朋友，讓我們藉著愛彼此連結，藉著學習一同成長，藉著服事彼此祝福。
建立以基督為中心的青年社群
喜禾今年夏天將透過兩場活動，進一步拓展對青年群體的服事。2026年7月18日，青年團契將於 Yorba Regional Park（地址：7600 E. La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807）舉辦戶外聚會，提供一個輕鬆、友善的環境，讓青年們能夠結識新朋友、建立友誼，並在忙碌的生活步調中，透過信仰與團契彼此鼓勵。緊接著，8月15日，喜禾將舉辦大型基督徒單身聯誼活動，延續過往單身活動所獲得的熱烈迴響——參與者在自然、不帶壓力的氛圍中彼此交流、分享信仰，並建立新的友誼。
喜禾相信，青年所需要的不僅僅是偶爾參加的活動，而是健康的人際關係、正向的群體支持，以及一個以基督為中心、能夠一同成長的空間；對單身朋友而言，更是尋找一位在信仰與價值觀上志同道合的同伴，為將來的婚姻與家庭生活作預備。我們盼望七月的聚會能成為長久友誼與更深社區參與的起點，也盼望八月的單身聯誼活動，能持續提供一個真誠、禱告、成熟的途徑，幫助大家建立有意義的關係——畢竟健康的婚姻與家庭，正是祝福下一代的重要根基。
我們誠摯邀請青年與單身朋友參加這兩場活動，也鼓勵家長將此機會分享給合適的家人與朋友。請大家將這些活動放在禱告中記念，願喜禾不僅祝福長者與家庭，也持續祝福年輕一代，幫助他們建立友誼、尋求屬靈的同伴，並邁向婚姻與家庭生活。
喜禾慈善義賣
讓閒置物品化為祝福
感謝多年來一直忠心支持喜禾慈善義賣活動的朋友們。每一次義賣不僅僅是一場募款活動，更是社區彼此祝福的機會——一個家庭不再使用的物品，可能成為另一個家庭實用且珍貴的資源，而義賣所得也將用於支持喜禾的各項事工與社區服務。
喜禾計畫於八月26-29日再次舉辦慈善義賣，誠摯邀請大家將狀況良好、閒置不用的物品捐贈給喜禾義賣，例如：小型家具、家居用品、廚房用品、家飾擺設、藝術品、禮品，或全新／狀況良好的日常生活用品等。
無論是捐贈物品、協助整理、義賣當天前來幫忙，或是邀請親朋好友一同參與，我們都竭誠歡迎大家以各種方式伸出援手。讓我們一起把閒置的物品化為社區的愛與祝福，也讓更多人藉此認識喜禾，加入這份服事的行列。
在慶祝自由的同時，願我們珍惜上帝的恩典，在社區中彼此扶持，並繼續同行，成為照亮他人、祝福他人的光。「以耶和華為神的，那國是有福的！」——《詩篇》33:12. 願上帝繼續保守美國，賜下和平、自由、公義與合一。
