2004-2005

Harvest Haven, Inc. was granted 501(C)(3) non-profit organization status in May 2004.  After a few months of recruiting friends with a passion to serve, and with just a few planning meetings, we started services at our first location in a backyard patio room in Cerritos.  Services such as free form filling, translation services, and consultations were offered.  We also began weekly Wednesday Cantonese Senior Meetings in November 2004. 

More onsite services were added in 2005, including free tax preparation, line dance, Mandarin, singing classes, and English tutoring for immigrants.  Other community services began, including distribution of clothing to the homeless and nursing home visitation.

2006-2008

With enough funds after just two fundraisers, we moved into our first formal location at 11618 South Street, #217 in Artesia, CA in November 2006. 

In addition to Wednesday Cantonese Senior Meetings, Thursday Mandarin Senior Meetings were started in January 2007.  Our 3-room facility allowed us to offer many more enrichment classes such as yoga, voice training, and Chinese painting. Several programs and activities for children, such as Children’s choir and Chinese Folk Dance, were also added.  We also began offering various free workshops.

In December 2008, we chartered a tour bus to take our seniors on their very first outing to the Huntington Library. This started our tradition of yearly outings.

2009-2010

More enrichment classes such as DIY classes, Praise dance, and computer classes were added.  The Harvest Haven Cancer Support Group was started in January 2010.  We also offered free flu shots and more medical workshops. 

2011-2012

We continued and expanded all our free services, senior programs, Cancer Support Group, various workshops, food and clothing to the homeless, outings for seniors, enrichment classes, and senior home visitations.  We also offered free recreation such as ping pong and karaoke to the public.  Meanwhile, we were looking for a larger facility to accommodate all our growing needs.

2013-Present

On April 1, 2013 we moved into our current location at 11812 South Street, #200 in Cerritos.  With over 5000 square feet of facility, we were able to further expand all our services and classes. Tuesday afternoon Happy Times was started in 2014 with fun for everyone. In addition to Line Dance and Praise Dance, we added Tai Chi and Pickle Ball for our exercise offerings.  We added more classrooms, a separate recreation room for ping pong, and a conference/multi-media room for music classes and karaoke singing. Besides medical workshops, e-workshops are also being held to keep the public informed.
