Dear Friends,

Thanksgiving travel hit record high this year as many head home to be with their families. We hope everyone also had a wonderful time spending quality time with family members this Thanksgiving!

Cantonese Seniors and volunteers of Harvest Haven had an enjoyable time celebrating Thanksgiving at the city park.  Everyone was so excited to finally meet in person again!! The volunteers led many activities, including games, singing, tai chi exercise, etc.  Many brought their home-grown fruits to share, others bought drinks, coffee and desserts. The party ended with everyone enjoying a boxed lunch of yummy dim sum.  Everyone had so much fun that some seniors said they wish there would be similar outdoor gatherings more often!

The Mandarin Seniors had surprise visits from our volunteers before Thanksgiving.  One of our volunteers donated over a hundred persimmons from her garden, and together with other volunteers they hand delivered the fruits to the seniors at their residences, chatted with them and took note of any concerns of theirs.  Everyone is looking forward to meeting in person again at Harvest Haven hopefully in early 2022.

We will be having a combined Christmas party for the Mandarin and Cantonese seniors and volunteers at the park this year.  We will continue our tradition of having Santa Claus deliver Christmas gifts for everyone at the party.  We feel doing it outdoors is safer for everyone, but for those seniors who feel it is safer not to attend in person, our volunteers will bring the gift bags to their homes.

We would like to wish everyone a very Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!
